REASONS TO LOVE RAW HONEY

Since Blume Honey Water is sweetened only with organic honey, we want to be well-versed in all things honey, organic and bees. Some fans and followers have asked us about the differences between raw honey and regular honey. And we have the answers!

Learning about the foods we know and love helps us further our appreciation for their many traits and benefits.

LEARN ABOUT RAW + REGULAR HONEY

Raw honey is honey that hasn’t been heated or pasteurized, and it contains natural vitamins, enzymes, powerful antioxidants and other powerhouse nutrients. Raw honey has anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties, and promotes digestive health. It really does wow!

Raw, local honey also contains a blend of all of the local pollen from everyone’s yards and open fields. When honey is initially removed from the hive, it needs to be strained to remove parts of bee bodies and pieces of wax and other debris. If a coarse strainer is used without heating, then the honey will contain the pollen that was present in the original honey from the local area. If this local honey is consumed regularly, it can reduce pollen allergy symptoms in humans.

Regular honey is heat-treated to obtain a more liquid consistency which can be easier for use and incorporation into recipes depending on the ultimate goal. This is how we retain the wonderful honey for all our organic Blume Honey Water flavors!

WHY RAW HONEY IS SO GOOD

  1. It’s 100% real and natural!

  2. It is not pasteurized!

  3. The most nutrients are preserved in raw honey.

  4. It is as the bees intended, no changes from humans.

  5. Raw honey contains pollen which allows you to trace the honey back to where it was first created.

  6. No hidden or scary ingredients. It is what it is.

  7. It tastes amazing!

  8. Energy booster. Honey allows for slow absorption in your body so it gives lasting energy (whereas sugar spikes and crashes in the body).

  9. It lasts. Forever. Honey is still being found in the pyramids. Since it doesn’t expire (barring any exposure to moisture), it is an excellent sweetener to have on hand all the time.

  10. Crystals for the win. Since raw honey is pure and natural, it will crystalize. For some this is a bonus. If crystals aren’t your thing, you can simply warm crystalized honey over low heat and it will come back together into a slurry.

All honey is wonderful: raw or heat-treated. The next big question: how can we use it more and more for health and wellness?
