Blume Honey Water celebrates the many waters of the United States

This weekend we celebrate the United States’ independence. The U.S. is fortunate, among the world’s countries, to have one of the safest public drinking water supplies on the planet. It isn’t perfect and while there are always ways to improve, we’re sending up sparklers for safe water.

We pride ourselves on providing clean, healthy, delicious Blume Honey Waters to your life. We promise to continually work to make sure pure, fresh water is kept safe and ready for your Blume bottle. Here’s what we encourage you to do to conserve and keep clean your own drinking water/groundwater.

HOW TO KEEP GROUNDWATER PURE

Clean Up Streams Organize or participate in stream cleanups. Adopt a stream and remove toxic debris, garbage or refuse floating or clogging banks.

Plant The Riverbank Organize a plan to plant trees, shrubs and grasses along stream banks (include pollinator-friendly plants, too!). Plantings stabilize banks to help prevent erosion, reduce sediment, filter runoff and provide shade and wildlife habitat.

Call Your Reps Ask local, state or federal agencies to partner with your community to support environmental activities such as storm drain stenciling, stream monitoring and environmental fairs.

Drains Are Precious It’s tempting, but don’t pour chemicals down drains or toilets. Chemicals we use in our homes every day—paint, cleaning sprays, weed killer, bug killer and many others—should never end up in our water. Read the label and call your city’s waste disposal department to find out how to dispose of these products. Some places have special hazardous-waste dropoffs where you can get rid of harmful products safely. Encourage everyone to stop using toxic fertilizers and pesticides and to start recycling motor oil, antifreeze and paint.

Replace With Safe Replace toxic chemicals in your home with nontoxic products. The more safe products people use, the fewer unhealthy chemicals end up in our groundwater.

Recycle With Seriousness Never flush stuff like plastic sandwich baggies or band-aids down the toilet. Things that aren’t biodegradable—that don’t break down naturally by themselves—can damage sewers and wind up littering beaches and waters.

The beauty of loving our waters is that in doing so, you’re also becoming a Beeless Beekeeper. Fewer chemicals, more beefriendly plants, safer products, engaging leaders and caring for the environment are all ways that produce an exponential boon to our world and country: Clean water...that’s a pretty great birthday gift to the U.S.!
